About Me

I am an Oxford University History graduate and I have also had a paper published in an academic journal. It is gratifying to see that although this paper was written a long time ago, it is still being consulted by scholars on a regular basis. Not only do I have a strong background in history but also a passion for the subject which takes up much of my spare time. Hopefully this is reflected in my teaching.
My Approach
My aim is very much to focus on the individual so that I can tailor my approach to suit them. I think it is important to carefully assess the individual and identify their strengths and weaknesses with a view to working on the latter.
I also believe in presenting material in a lively and interesting manner because I take the view that learning works better that way. Resources such as podcasts, videos and websites can usefully complement reading books and articles. I have access to a wide range of resources which I can feed into my teaching.
Plainly students are generally working towards a qualification and one of my primary concerns, when teaching, is that we maintain a sharp focus on the curriculum and the exam or exams at the end of it so that we are making optimal use of our time.
